A climbing crag in the commune, footpaths at the gate

Eight activities, eight pages. What actually exists around the farm, with the numbers to call and the distances measured by road.

The climbing crag is within the commune. The footpaths start at the gate. The ridge of the Lance, at 1,338 metres, borders the commune of Roche-Saint-Secret-Béconne, and a large colony of griffon vultures soars over the Eygues valley.

You will find no theme park here and no queues. A crag, some tracks, a river, a few cols and a dark sky. Each activity has its own page, with the providers' contact details. Call before you drive out: opening times and prices shift from one season to the next.

Frequently asked questions

What is there to do around the cottage if you do not like walking?
The Provençal markets — eleven of them less than fifty minutes away — the villages of Grignan, Dieulefit, Nyons and Le Poët-Laval, the tandem paragliding flight arranged from Dieulefit, the swimming pool at Nyons, and the lavandin and truffle sold at the farm itself. Hiking is not compulsory.
Are there activities you can reach on foot from the cottage?
Yes. The walking paths start at the gate and the farm's eighty hectares are open to you. The Rocher des Aures is within the commune, with a twenty to twenty-five minute walk in from the car park.
What is the best season for outdoor activities?
April to June and September to October for climbing, cycling and hiking: the south-facing side of the Rocher des Aures is not advisable in high summer. July and August for swimming and canoeing. Paragliding only runs between April and September. Vulture and star watching works all year round.
Do you need a car to make the most of the area?
Yes, unless you only intend to walk. The farm is 3.3 km from the village, at the end of a track. The nearest bus stop is at Taulignan, 9 km away. Every guided activity presented here requires a drive.
