A holiday cottage in Provence in spring and October

April, May and the first half of October: the trails are good for walking, the markets are running, and you can come for three nights.

The cottages are open from 3 April to 16 October. They close for the winter. The two ends of the season are the times we like best: the heat has not yet arrived, or has gone, and the roads are empty.

From 3 April to 29 May, the minimum stay is three nights, arriving on the day of your choice. From 25 September to 16 October, it is seven nights online; a shorter stay is still possible by calling Corine, as in April.

The Richerenches truffle market

April – May

The trails before the heat

This is the best season for walking from the farm: the garrigue is green, the days are long, and the routes on the Montagne de la Lance can be walked without suffering in the sun.

The olive harvest

All season

The markets, without the crowds

Grignan on Tuesday, Nyons on Thursday, Taulignan and Dieulefit on Friday: the Provençal markets (in French) are running from April, with half the August crowds.

The almond blossom

April – May, late September – October

The Rocher des Aures

Facing due south, it is not advisable in high summer. In spring and in October, it is the finest walk and the finest crag in the area, a few minutes from the cottage.

Two things to know

The cottages are closed from 16 October to 3 April: the Richerenches truffle market, the olive harvest and the almond blossom all fall during the closure. And the road to the summit of Mont Ventoux stays closed until May above the Chalet Reynard; check before you drive up.
